Lichen Pine

Privacy Policy

Effective September 19, 2026

This policy explains what personal information Lichen Pine (“we”, “us”) collects when you use lichenpineco.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

  • Account information: your email address and a password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way bcrypt hash; we cannot read them.
  • Order information: which guides and products you bought, order identifiers, and, for physical items, the shipping name and address you provide.
  • Payment information: handled entirely by Stripe (and Shopify for shop items). Your card number never reaches our servers. We keep a Stripe customer identifier so saved payment methods and receipts work.
  • Waitlist and preferences: if you join a preorder list, we record that signup. We also remember your language and theme choices.
  • Support tickets: the name, email, subject, and message you submit through the support form, plus your account if you were signed in. Tickets are stored in our database and forwarded to us by email so we can reply.
  • Technical data: our hosting provider automatically records standard request logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and reliability. We do not run advertising or third-party analytics trackers.

How we use it

  • To create and secure your account and let you sign in and reset your password.
  • To process orders, deliver downloads, and fulfill and ship physical products.
  • To send transactional email such as receipts, download links, password resets, and waitlist confirmations.
  • To prevent fraud and abuse and to comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising.

Service providers

We share only what is needed with the providers that run the site:

  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Shopify — apparel and field-gear storefront and checkout.
  • Lulu — printing and shipping of physical guides (receives your shipping details).
  • Resend — sending transactional email.
  • Vercel and our database host — hosting and storing site data.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of others.

Cookies and local storage

We use only what the site needs to function:

  • A session cookie that keeps you signed in (and a separate one for admin sign-in).
  • A language cookie so pages render in your chosen language.
  • Browser local storage for your shopping cart and light/dark theme preference.

You can clear these at any time in your browser; you will simply be signed out.

Retention and security

We keep account and order records for as long as your account exists and as needed for tax, accounting, and dispute purposes. Sessions and password-reset links expire automatically. We use encryption in transit and hashed passwords, but no system is perfectly secure.

Your choices and rights

You can view and update your shipping address and saved payment method in your account. You may ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information by submitting a support ticket; depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK) you may have additional rights, and we will honor them. We may retain records we are legally required to keep.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date above shows the latest version; material changes will be noted on this page.
